Thistle Roller Company offers a wide range of Hard Face build-ups and thickness covers. Every roll regardless of cover type experiences superior quality coatings with a dramatic low cost. Thistle can guarantee the quality due to years of experience and the caliber of our equipment.

TAFA Arc Spray:
Arc Spray coating technology provides stronger bond strength, greater density, lower internal stresses, greater thickness capabilities, and high quality microstructure
Materials options: Aluminum combinations, Zinc, Copper, Nickel, Bronze, Brass, Molybdenum, Titanium, Iron Chrome, Carbon Steel, Cobalt and many Thistle Roller Proprietary metal blends. All materials are wire based for single & multi-blend purposes.
Applications uses: Wear resistance, Part Restorations, Journal Repairs, OD / ID Build-ups, Shielding, Corrosion Protection, Electrical Conductivity and other Multiple Uses.
Ideal Industries: Paper, Corrugated, Textile, Roofing, Aerospace, Oil and Steel.
Praxair Plasma Unit:
Praxair Thermal Spray offers a wide range options from high volume production requiring high quality, uniform, and repeatable coatings, to lower volume applications where rapid retooling and system flexibility is required. Praxair Plasma Unit is a powder feed system. Thistle Roller has industry recognition for thermal spray with grind finishing capabilities.
Pure Metal & Alloy options: Aluminum, Cobalt, Copper, Iron, Molybdenum, Nickel, Tungsten.
Ceramic / Carbide options: Aluminum Oxide, Chromium Oxide, Zirconium Oxide, Chromium carbide & Tungsten Carbide.
Applications uses: Wear resistance, Part Restorations, Journal Repairs, OD / ID Build-ups, Shielding, Corrosion Protection, Electrical Conductivity and other Multiple Uses.

SIFCO Plating:
SIFCO Plating technology provides plating build-ups in critical areas where tolerances are important. SIFCO can be used in-house or as a mobile unit. Instead of re-plating the entire part or roll, consider spot plating your damage. However, the SIFCO process should not be confused with Thistle Roller’s Hard Chrome process or Division.
Materials options: Currently, 15 pure metals and more than fifteen alloys can be electroplated onto virtually all of the commonly used metals and alloys.
Applications uses: Wear resistance, Part Restorations, Journal Repairs, OD / ID Build-ups and much more.
Ideal Industries: Power Generating, Marine, Aircraft, Printing, Industrial Equipment, Steel Mills, Pulp & Paper and Mold Repair and all Machine-plating needs.
HVOF Coating:
HVOF Coating technology offers low porosity and very high bond strength. HVOF systems spray tungsten carbide and chromium carbide. This system is a likely candidate to replace chrome plating with no tank limitations. Achieve higher cover thickness without microcracking that will not lead to poor adhesion.
Materials options: Tungsten Carbide, Chromium Carbide and call for updated materials.
Applications uses: Wear resistance, Part Restorations, OD / ID Build-ups, Chrome replacement (due to wear resistance), and special Roller covers.
